Kittens at the barn! We have 5 new kittens at the big barn now. They were born at the beginning of August at a friend’s house in Akeley. They worked very hard to socialize the kittens and did such a good job. These kittens are so friendly and want to be held and cuddled at least for a short time. They have lots of energy and like to wrestle but they purr whenever we pick them up. We ended up with 5 boy kittens.

Our current barn cats are more content to patrol a little and supervise the rest of the time from a hay bale. We need some younger ones to hunt to keep the mice and squirrels out of the feed containers. These kittens are not leaving the tack room, yet, to hunt but they will in the spring. We have them in multiple cages, linked together, to give them a safe place to have their food available and a place to rest. It also allows the older cats to have some time in the tack room without being bothered by the babies. Babies have a lot of energy and they don’t always know when the big cats need a break. We don’t have names for them yet but are working on it. Keep checking in for more updates, including names, over the next few months.

All these pictures and videos were taken the first day they arrived here at the barn.

These are the gray and white boys. One has stripes in his gray areas and the other has a little white spot in the middle of his back. That one also has a gray spot on his tummy.

This little guy was the shiest when he got here, but has come out of his shell. He was pretty tired on this first day in his new home.

These boys have a lot to say most days. This first day a little bit of litter ended up on the darkest one’s nose, but he didn’t mind.
