April 2026

April has been full of extremes up here. The weather has been giving us tastes of spring and even summer and then plunging us back into winter. We are in t-shirts one day and winter boots and coats the next day. The animals are doing fine with the weather changes, although Mr. B did think it was unfair that he had to wear a blanket during the snow storm and no one else did. He forgave us for keeping him warm and dry.

This is the top of the big hill after the first of the two snowstorms that we had at the beginning of April. The trees were pretty weighed down but they were beautiful.

Here is the Klik pond after the first storm.

Sapphie was so happy when she got a new hay bale and the rest of the old one was spread out for her. She made a bed in it right away. Most of our horses don’t do that; Lexi, Whiskey, and Bailey are the others who make beds in the hay, the other horses just eat it.

This is looking at the barn and arena from the green barn. It is fun to see such large stretches of undisturbed snow.

This is how Davey and Little George spent the snowstorms. They love to sleep on a horse blanket together.

Two weeks after the snowstorms there is no sign that it ever happened.
